i) The food coming from stomach is acidic in nature. Stomach releases gastric juice which contains hydrochloric acid. Hydrochloric acid dissolves bits of food and creates an acidic medium for the activation of the enzyme pepsin.
ii) 1. Villi is present to increase the absorptive surface area.
2. Lacteals in the villi receive the products of fat digestion.
