Explanation:

Let the daughter's age 5 years ago be x. Then her mother's ahe will be 7x.

Their present ages will be (x + 5) and (7x + 5) respectively.

Five years hence, their ages will be (x + 10) and (7x + 10) respectively.

Given,

7x + 10 = 3(x + 10)

7x + 10 = 3x + 30

7x - 3x = 30 - 10

4x = 20

x =  \frac{20}{4}  = 5

Hence,

The daughter's present age = 5 + 5 = 10 years

Her mother's present age = 7(5) + 5 = 35+5 = 40 years

Answer: Daughter's age: 10 years, mother's age: 40 years
