33. The refractive indices of two media A and B are 1.7 and 1.3 respectively. If light travelling in air is
incident on these media at equal angles, then
a) Which medium will have larger angle of refraction?
b) What is the refractive index of B with respect to A?

Answer:

B will have larger angle of refraction

Explanation:

When the light travels from  rarer medium to denser medium, it bends towards the normal. So when it will travel from air to a media having refractive index of 1.7 it will bend towards the normal at a larger scale when compared to Media B. So the angle of refraction will be more in B because the light ray has bend towards the normal at a comparatively small scale .  The refractive index will be 1.7/1.3= 1.31 .Hope you understood my concept.
