10.2.5 Ergonomic Design of the Workstation
Successful ergonomic design of the workstation in the office is a holistic task, because all the interrelated parts of our workstation environment need to be considered (schematically depicted in Fig. 10.4) as working together to form the station. Work tasks, work movements, and work activities interact with each other. They affect and are influenced by the workstation components, furniture, and other equipment and by the environment. All of these in turn must “fit” the individual to support his or her well-being and contribute to work output. Of course, job content and demands, control over one’s job, and many other social and organizational factors also influence feelings, attitudes, and performance (see Chapter 11)
