Mass of solution=34.2 gram

Mass of solvent = 400g

Mass of solution = Mass of solute+Mass of Solvent = 34.2 + 400 = 434.2g

Percentage by mass = Mass of solute/Mass of solution multiplied by 100.

Therefore, 34.2g/434.2g multiplied by 100 = 7.877% [Ans]

Percentage by mass of glucose solution is 78.8 %

Explanation:

To calculate the mass percentage ,we use the formula:

\text{Mass percent}=\frac{\text{Mass of solute}}{\text{Molar mass of solution}}\times 100

Mass of solute = 34.2 g

Mass of water = 400 g

Putting values in above equation, we get:

\text{Mass percent}=\frac{34.2g}{34.2g+400g}\times 100

\text{Mass percent of glucose}=78.8\%

Percentage by mass of glucose solution is 78.8 %
