Question:-

  • by 3 but smaller than the third by 9. Find the second number.

To Find:-

  • Find the second number.

Solution:-

Let the second number be x

  • First number be x - 3

  • Third number be x + 9

According to the Question:-

\sf\longrightarrow \: \dfrac { x + x - 3 + x + 9 } { 3 } = 50

\sf\longrightarrow \: 3x + 6 = 50 \times 3

\sf\longrightarrow \: 3x = 150 - 6

\sf\longrightarrow \: 3x = 144

\sf\longrightarrow \: x = \cancel\dfrac { 144 } { 3 }

\sf\longrightarrow \: x = 48

Hence ,
