Dear Diary,

Today has been the most astonishing day of my life as a potter! I can hardly believe what I experienced. You won't believe it either!

I went to the riverbank as usual first thing this morning in the hopes of finding some clay for my ceramic work. My dependable donkey was by my side, toting my tools and pots. It was a lovely morning, and a light breeze caressed my cheeks.

I was busily gathering clay when a strange rustling noise came from behind me. I initially assumed it was simply my donkey, but when I turned around, I was astounded by what I saw! A gorgeous tiger was standing just in front of me and was giving me its whole attention.

I froze in fear, but surprisingly, my donkey didn't seem bothered at all. It just stood there calmly, not realizing the danger we were in. For a moment, I thought I was imagining things. How could a tiger be here, so close to the village?

I quickly recovered my composure and chose to proceed carefully. In hopes that the tiger wouldn't charge, I held my breath. I gently picked up a tiny stick with quivering hands in an effort to frighten it off. I was surprised to see that the tiger didn't budge.

I realised that my donkey was gone as the seconds passed. Then it dawned on me: the tiger had actually captured my donkey, not a tiger! The tiger was merely inspecting my poor, defenceless donkey as its prey.

Knowing that I was safe made me feel relieved, but I felt sorrow for my devoted partner. For years, my donkey had accompanied me and assisted me in carrying my bulky goods and big pots. Its loss was akin to losing a beloved.

I was able to back away from the tiger without making any unexpected movements. Finally, it dragged my donkey into some adjacent woods. I hastened back to the town to tell everyone what had happened as soon as it was no longer in view.

This day will live on in my memories forever. It all seems like a dreamlike strange experience, and I still can't believe I saw a tiger. Although I shall miss my donkey, I am happy to be protected. I'll have to figure out a way to work on my ceramics tomorrow without my trusty assistant around.

Until next time, Diary.

Yours sincerely,

The Potter
