Answer:base = 12 and altitude=7

Step-by-step explanation:

42=1/2*x(x-5)

84=x(x-5)

84=x^2-5x

0=x^2-5x-84

0=x^2-(12-7)x-84

0=x^2-12x+7x-84

0=x(x-12)+7(x-12)

0=(x+7)(x-12)

since after spliting both 7 will come negative it will be -7 while doing 0=x+7

x=-7 and distance cant be negative so 12 will be the answer while keeping the base as x .please make it the brainliest ans please
