Correct Question :

  • The area of a trapezium shaped field is 480 m². The distance between two parallel sides is 15 m. and one of other parallel side is 20m .Find the other parallel sides.

Answer :

  • 44m is the other parallel sides

Given :

  • The area of a trapezium shaped field is 480 m²
  • The distance between two parallel sides is 15m

To find :

  • Other parallel sides

Solution :

Given ,

  • Area of trapezium = 480 m²
  • Height = 15m

Let the Length of other parallel sides be bcm

As we know that,

  • Area of trapezium = 1/2 (a + b) × h

⇢ 480 = 1/2 (20 + b) × 15

⇢ 480 × 2 = (20 + b) × 15

⇢ 960 = (20 + b) × 15

⇢ 960 = 300 + 15b

⇢ 15b = 960 - 300

⇢ 15b = 660

⇢ b = 660/15

⇢ b = 132/3

⇢ b = 44

Hence , 44m is the other parallel sides

Correct Question :

  • The area of a trapezium shaped field is 480m². The distance between two parallel sides is 15 m. Find the sum of the two parallel sides.

 \\

Given :

  • Area of Trapezium = 480m²
  • Height of Trapezium = 15m

 \\

To Find :

  • The sum of the two parallel sides.

 \\

Solution :

✰ As we know that, Area of Trapezium is given by ½ × height × (sum of parallel sides) or we can say that ½ × height × (a + b) . Now in this question, Area of Trapezium along with the Height of the Trapezium is given, so simply we will put the given values in the formula to find the sum of the two parallel sides.

⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⟼⠀⠀Area = ½ × height × (a + b)

⠀⠀⠀⟼⠀⠀480 = ½ × 15 × (a + b)

⠀⠀⠀⟼⠀⠀480 × 2 = 15 × (a + b)

⠀⠀⠀⟼⠀⠀960 = 15 × (a + b)

⠀⠀⠀⟼⠀⠀960/15 = (a + b)

⠀⠀⠀⟼⠀⠀64m = (a + b)

Thus Sum of the Two Parallel Sides of the Trapezium is 64m
