Answer:

Let Pencils = 10x, Pens = 2x & Exercise books = 3x. Now, 10x = 120 hence x = 12.

Number of exercise books = 3x = 36.

Appropriate Question

A shop ordered textbooks ,notebooks,and pens in the ratio 5:3:1.If 20 textbooks were ordered,How many pens were ordered ?

Given

➢ Textbooks,Notebooks,and pens ordered by a shop are in ratio 5:3:1, respectively.

➢ Number of textbooks ordered = 20

To Find

➢ Number of pens ordered

Solution

➢ The ratio of the number of textbooks to the number of pens ordered is 5:1.

➢ Number of texbooks ordered : Number of pens ordered = 5 : 1.

 \sf{ \frac{20}{number \: of \: pens \: ordered}} =  \frac{5}{1}

 \sf{ \frac{20}{number \: of \: pens \: ordered}} =  \frac{5 × 4}{1 × 4}

 \sf{ \frac{20}{number \: of \: pens \: ordered}} =  \frac{20}{4}

Hence,the number of pens ordered is 4.
