35 A piece of wire having resistance R is cut into four' equal parts.
1) How will the resistance of cach part compare with the origin I resistance?
2) If the four parts are connected in parallel, what will be the resistance of the combination?

Answer:

resistance of each individual wire = R/4.

Equivalent Resistance when connected in parallel =R/16

Explanation:

since the wire is cut into 4 parts, so the length of each wire will now be l/4 (considering l is the length of the original wire). so the resistance of each individual wire now will be R/4 (R=pl/4A).

When the wires will be connected in parallel the equivalent resistance will be = 4/R+4/R+4/R+4/R=16/R= R/16.
