35 workers are employed to complete a construction
project in 16 days. Before the project starts, the boss
of the company is bold that he needs to complete the
project in 14 days. Assuming that all me the workers
work at same rate, how many more workers does he
need to employ in order to complete the project on time?​

let x be the no. of workers and y be b the no. of days

this is a case of inverse proportion. ∵the no. of workers increase the no. of days decrease

∴x∝1/y

So, if x=35;y=16

x= 35 × 16/ 14; y = 14

∴x = 40 workers

hence, the boss will have to hire 5 more workers in order to complete the project on time i.e within 14 days
