Let the maximum marks be x
Marks the student got=123
He is declared fail by 39 marks,which means the passing marks is (123+39)marks
=162 marks
Marks required to pass the test=36% of x
ATQ:-

$= > \frac{36}{100} x = 162$

$= > x = \frac{162 \times 100}{36}$

$= > 450$
Hence, the maximum marks is 450
