A student needs to connect a fuse with the following set of
arrangement of resistors. He has fuses of 1A, 5A, 10A with him. What
should be the appropriate rating of the fuse to be used in the circuit?
Justify with the help of calculations.

Why did he choose to connect the fuse wire in series and not in parallel in
the above circuit?

Explanation:

Resistance in parallel combination

1/R = 1/4+1/2 = 3/4

R = 4/3 ohm

V = IR

I = V/R = 12×3/4 = 9A

So a fuse greater than 9A will work

thus 10A

Same current should flow through the fuse thus it should be connected in series
