Answer:

The electrical impulse in the nerve ending of the neuron contains chemicals called neuro- transmitters . They travel along the synapse and transfer the electrical impulse along the dendrites of second neuron and when the chemical energy is converted into electrical energy, the chemical neuro transmitters depart from dendrites to the nerve ending again.

Chemical Transmission of nerve impulse.

Step by step explanation:

1) The nervous system is a complex system, which promotes constant exchange of information through nerves and nerve cell.

2) The neurons are defined as the functional unit of the neural system that receives, detects and transmits different kind of stimuli.

3) These neurons communicates with each other at specific points and gaps known as synapses.

4) The neurons are cells with special ability and gets excited because of the membrane residing in the polarized state.

5) As the nerve impulse of the neuron reaches the end of the axon, certain chemicals are released as neurotransmitters.

They diffuse through the synaptic space, i.e. the small space between the axon and receptors.

The nerve impulses may be transmitted either as electrical impulse or chemical impulses.
