1. cos²@ + cos@ = 1

taking LHS

= (1-sin²@) + cos@ = 1 ... cos²@ = 1 - sin²@ - indentity

= 1 - sin²@ + cos@ = 1

= -sin²@ + cos@ = 0 ... 1 and 1 get cancel

= cos@ = sin@ × sin@

= cos@/sin@ = sin@

= cot@ = sin@

= adjacent side/opposite side = hypotenuse/opposite side

= LHS ≠ RHS

since cot@ ≠ sin@ therefore cos²@ + cos@ = 1 is not an identity
