Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

Quantity of milk = 14 liter

Cost of milk per liter = Rs. 5.40

To find: Quantity of water such that after mixing with milk cost of mixture become Rs. 4.20

let x be the Quantity of the water mixed with milk.

We know that water is available cost free.

According to the question,

x + 14 × 5.40 = 4.20( x + 14 )

x + 75.6 = 4.20x + 58.8

4.20x - x = 75.6 - 58.8

3.20x = 16.8

x = 16.8/3.20

x = 5.25

Therefore, Quantity of milk is 5.25
