we have to find the frictional force acting on 1 kg block.

solution : here maximum static frictional force = μmg

= 0.5 × 1kg × 10 m/s² = 5 N but is less than applied force , F = 10N so, these blocks are moving together then, F = (m + M)a

⇒10N = (1kg + 100kg)a

⇒a = 10/101 m/s² ≈ 0.1 m/s²

so frictional force is same as external force acting on the smaller block. i.e., F = ma

= 1kg × 0.1 m/s² = 0.1 N

Therefore frictional force acting on the block is 0.1 N
