All matter consists of indivisible particles called atoms. Atoms of the same element are similar in shape and mass, but differ from the atoms of other elements. ... Atoms of different elements may combine with each other in a fixed, simple, whole number ratios to form compound atoms.

Answer:
The main postulates of the Dalton's Atomic Theory are-
- Matter consists of small indivisible particles called atoms.
- Atoms are neither created nor destroyed.
- Atoms of the same element are alike in every aspect and differ from atoms of all others elements.
- Atoms combine with other atoms in simple whole number ratios forming compound atoms or molecules.
- An atom is the smallest unit of matter which takes part in a chemical reaction and all chemical changes result from separation or combination of atoms.
Drawbacks
- Indivisibility of an atom was proved wrong: an atom can be further subdivided into protons, neutrons and electrons. However an atom is the smallest particle that takes part in chemical reactions.
- According to Dalton, the atoms of same element are similar in all respect but this differs with modern atomic theory as atoms may not be alike in all respects as seen in the case of isotopes.
