yes, it is true but it can be grow in the areas where a lot of water for irrigation is needed. It is expensive farming because it needed lots of labour and fertilisers and pestiside but it gives the more yield than the input

(i) Paddy is an important crop of India.

(ii) Paddy is grown in the one fourth part of the total snow area of India.

(iii) India ranks second after China in the paddy production in the world.

(iv) Paddy is a kharif crop of torrid zone. It can be grown even during summer where irrigation facility is available.

(v) Fertile soils of Alluvial planes or delta of a river hot and humid climate 100 cm or more rainfall and a minimum of 20 degree celsius temperature are suitable for its growth.

(vi) Major producers of paddy are West Bengal ,Tamilnadu, Andhra Pradesh ,telangana, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh , Odisha and Chhattisgarh States. In West Bengal ,Uttar Pradesh, Tamilnadu ,Odisha and Bihar ,the crop is taken twice in a year.
