Therefore the acceleration of the body down the plane is 7.66 m/s². ( Option-3 )

Given:

Angle of inclination = θ = 60°

Coefficient of friction between the body and the surface = μ = 0.2

Acceleration due to gravity = g = 10 m/s²

To Find:

Acceleration of the body down the plane ( a )

Solution:

The given question can be solved as shown below.

Given that,

Angle of inclination = θ = 60°

Coefficient of friction between the body and the surface = μ = 0.2

Acceleration due to gravity = g = 10 m/s²

In the figure attached,

N = Normal Force = mg Cos θ = 10 × 10 ×Cos 60° = 50 N

f = Frictional force = μN = 0.2 × 50 = 10 N

As the body moves down,

⇒ Net Force = ma

⇒ mg Sin θ - f = ma

⇒ ( 10 × 10 × Sin 60° ) - 10 = 10a

⇒ 86.6 - 10 = 10a

⇒ 76.6 = 10a

⇒ a = 7.66

Therefore the acceleration of the body down the plane is 7.66 m/s².
