The wooden hemisphere is solid. We have to paint the curved surface of the hemisphere along with the base area of the hemisphere.

Therefore,

We have to calculate the value of total surface area of the hemisphere.

The total surface area of a solid hemisphere = Curved surface area of the hemisphere + the area of the base of the hemisphere.

The total surface area of the hemispherical wooden solid  = (2\pir² + \pir²) square units

= 3\pi

The diameter of the base of the hemispherical solid = 14 cm

The radius of a base of the hemispherical solid = 14/2 = 7 cm

Putting the value of radius in the formula for total surface area, we get,

Total surface area = 3× (22/7 ) × 7²

=(66×49)/7

=3234 /7

= 462 cm²

The area of the hemispherical wooden solid to be painted is 462 cm².
