Answer: a=2 b=4

Step-by-step explanation:

3a+5b=26

a+5b=22

_________

on subtraction signs will change

3a+5b=26

-a-5b=-22

__________

2a=4

a=4/2

a=2

now substituting a=2 in equation 1

3×2+5b=26

6+5b=26

5b=26-6=20

b=20/5

b=4

so a=2 and b=4

Hey!

_________________

3a + 5b = 26 _______ (i)
a + 5b = 22 ________(ii)

By substitution method

a = 22 - 5b

Keeping value of "a" in (i)

3 ( 22 - 5b) + 5b = 26
66 - 15b + 5b = 26
66 - 10b = 26
- 10b = 26 - 66
-10b = -40
b = 40/10
b = 4

Keeping value of "b" in (ii)

a + 5 (4) = 22
a + 20 = 22
a = 22 - 20
a = 2

a = 2 and b = 4
