To find : value of x during formation of MgO.
Solution : chemical reaction between Mg and O₂ is given by,
2Mg + O₂ ⇒2MgO
Here 2 moles of Mg react with 1 mole of O₂.
or, 2 × 24 g of Mg reacts with 32g of O₂.
or, 3g of Mg reacts with 32/48 × 3 = 2g of O₂
Therefore value of x equals to 2 during the formation of MgO
