Answer:

In series the eq. resistance = R1 + R2 + R3

= 3 + 6 + 12

= 21 ohms

In parallel eq. R can be calculated by

1/R = 1/R1 +1/R2 +1/R3

1/R = 1/3 +1/6 +1/12

1/R = (4+2+1)/12

R = 12/7

R = 1.7 ohms

So the max. value will be in series combination.

1/R=1/r. +1/r. +1/r

= 1/3+ 1/6 1/12

=. 7/12

1/R=12/7

in series resistors

R=R1 +R2. +R3

= 3+6+12

=21
