Step-by-step explanation:

My method is practically the same as another, but I do not find the same results.

Let x a solution of 3x−1/3=2[x−1/2]+5

Let p:=[x−1/2] and y:=x−1/2−p={x−1/2}

We have x=y+1/2+p so 3y+3/2+3p−1/3=2p+5

Then 3y+p=5–7/6=4–1/6

We have 3 cases:

1/ 0≤y<1/3 , [3y+p]=p. Moreover [4–1/6]=3

So p=3 and as 3y=1–1/6=5/6 so y=5/18

We deduce that x=5/18+1/2+3=34/9

2/ 1/3≤y<2/3 then 1≤3y<2 then [3y+p]=p+1.

Moreover [4–1/6]=3

So p=2 and as 3y=2−1/6=11/6 so y=11/18

We deduce that x=11/18+1/2+2=28/9

3/ 2/3≤y<1 then 2≤3y<3 then [3y+p]=p+2.

Moreover [4–1/6]=3

So p=1 and as 3y=3−1/6=17/6 so y=17/18

We deduce that x=17/18+1/2+1=22/9

Hence x∈{22/9,28/9,34/9}

Conversely, we check that these 3 values verify the relation.
