3x -  \frac{1}{3 }  = 5

3x = 5 +  \frac{1}{3}

3x =  \frac{15 + 1}{3}

3x =  \frac{16}{3}

Answer:

→3x -  \frac{1}{3}  = 5 \\ 3x = 5 +  \frac{1}{3}  \\ 3x =  \frac{(15 + 1)}{3}  \\ 3x =  \frac{16}{3}  \\  \boxed{x =  \frac{16}{9} }✓

  • x = 16/9 is the right answer.

Checking procedure :

  • Left Hand Side

→3( \frac{16}{9} ) -  \frac{1}{3}  =  \frac{16}{3}  -  \frac{1}{3}  =  \frac{(16 - 1)}{3}  =  \frac{15}{3}  =  \boxed{5} \\

  • Right Hand Side

 →\boxed{5} \\

Therefore, LHS = RHS (Hence proved)
