(i) 3x2 + 5x - 4; 8x - 2x2 +11

= (3x²+5x-4)+(8x-2x²+11)

= 3x²+5x-4+8x-2x²+11

= 3x²-2x²+5x+8x-4+11

= x²+13x+7
