Solution:-

$\dfrac{3x + 2}{x + 1} = 7$

We will cross multiply the terms :-

$= > 3x + 2 = 7(x + 1)$

$= > 3x + 2 = 7x + 7$

$= > 3x - 7x = 7 - 2$

$= > - 4x = 5$

$= > x = - \frac{5}{4}$

Hence, the value of x is -5/4

Verification:-

L.H.S

Putting the value of x

$= \dfrac{3 \times ( - \dfrac{5}{4}) + 2 }{( - \dfrac{5}{4}) + 1 }$

$= \dfrac{( - \dfrac{15}{4}) + 2 }{( - \dfrac{5}{4}) + 1 }$

$= \dfrac{ - \dfrac{15}{4} + 2}{ - \dfrac{5}{4} + 1 }$

$= \dfrac{ \dfrac{ - 15 + 8}{4} }{ \dfrac{ - 5 + 4}{4} }$

$= \dfrac{ - \dfrac{ 7}{4} }{ - \dfrac{1}{4} }$

$= - \dfrac{7}{4} \times - 4$

$= 7$

R.H.S, Already = 7

L.H.S = R.H.S

Hence, proved.
