3x + 2y = 13               (i)
2x + 3y = 12               (ii)

Multiplying eq.(i) by 2 and eq.(ii) by 3, we get
6x + 4y = 26               (iii)
6x + 9y = 36                (iv)

Subtracting eq.(iii) from eq.(iv), we get
              6x + 9y = 36
              6x + 4y = 26
            -      -         -
 -------------------------------------------
                      5y = 10

Therefore,  y = 2.
Putting y = 2 in eq.(i), we obtain
3x + 2X2 = 13
3x = 9
  x = 3.

Using values of x and y ,
We obtain x + y
                = 3 + 2 = 5
