x = 5

y = 9

Explanation

3x - 2y + 3 = 0 ... (i)

4x + 3y - 47 = 0 ... (ii)

By Substitution method

From eq (i)

3x - 2y + 3 = 0

3x - 2y = - 3

3x = - 3 + 2y

- 3 + 2y

x = --------------

3

Put the value x for eq (ii)

4x + 3y - 47 = 0

4x + 3y = 47

4(-3 + 2y)

------------- + 3y = 47

3

-12 + 8y

------------ + 3y = 47

3

Lcm of 3 and 1 = 3

1 (-12 + 8y) + 3(3y)

------------------------------- = 47

3

(-12 + 8y) + 9y

------------------------ = 47

3

-12 + 17y

----------------- = 47

3

-12 + 17y = 47(3)

-12 + 17y = 141

17y = 141 + 12

17y = 153

y = 153 / 17

y = 9

Put the value of y for eq (i)

3x - 2y + 3 = 0

3x - 2(9) = - 3

3x - 18 = - 3

3x = - 3 + 18

3x = 15

x = 15 / 3

x = 5
