Multiply equation (1) by 3 and equation (2) by 2, then subtract

9x+6y=21

8x−6y=−4

x=1717=1

Put the value of x in equation (1), we get

3x+2y=7

3(1)+2y=7

2y=73

2y=4

y=24=2

Therefore the solution is (1, 2)
