3x + 2y - 7 = 0-1
4x + y - 6 = 0-2

multiply eqn 2 by 2
8x + 2y -12= 0-3

let's subtract eqn 1&3
3x +2y-7
- 8x+2y-12
= -5x. =-5
x=1
put x in eqn 1
3x+2y-7
3+2y-7
2y=7-3
2y=4
y=2
