Answer by:- Kumar Aman

3x+4=5x-4

so, x = 4

Now we have 3x+4 + 4 =5x-4 + 4

or, 3x + 8 = 5x +0

subtracting 3x from both side we have

2x = 4

so, x = 4

Definition of Equivalent Expression

Two algebraic expressions are said to be equivalent if their values obtained by substituting the values of the variables are same.

3(x + 3) and 3x + 9 are equivalent expressions, because the value of both the expressions remains same for any value of x. For instance, for x = 4, 3(x + 3) = 3(4 + 3) = 21 and 3(x + 9) = 3 × 4 + 9( x + 3) = 21

(3x+4)^2 = (5x-4)^2

9x^2 + 16 + 24x = 25x^2 + 16 - 40x

subtracting 9x^2 from both sides, we have

16 + 24 x = 16 x^2 + 16 -40x

subtracting 24x from both sides, we have

16 = 16x^2 + 16 - 64x

16x^2 - 64x = 0

16x(x-4)=0

either

16x = 0 or x-4 =0

therefore,

x = 0 and 4
