Given

3x-4y-1 =0 2x+7y+9=0 elimination method

To find

Find the value of x and y

Solution

**Given equations

  • 3x - 4y = 1 ---(i)
  • 2x + 7y = -9 ----(ii)

Multiply (i) by 2 and (ii) by 3

  • 6x - 8y = 2
  • 6x + 21y = -27

Subtract both the equation

➞ (6x - 8y) - (6x + 21y) = 2 - 27

➞ 6x - 8y - 6x - 21y = - 25

➞ - 27y = - 25

➞ y = 25/27

Putting the value of y in eqⁿ (i)

➞ 3x - 4y = 1

➞ 3x - 4×25/27 = 1

➞ 3x - 100/27 = 1

➞ 3x = 100/27 + 1

➞ 3x = 100 + 27/27

➞ 3x = 127/27

➞ x = 127/3×27

➞ x = 127/81

{\boxed{\bf{Required\:value\:of\:x=\dfrac{127}{81}}}}

{\boxed{\bf{Required\:value\:of\:y=\dfrac{25}{27}}}}
