Given:

  • 3x + 4y = 12      -------- [Equation 1]
  • 6x + 8y = 20     -------- [Equation 2]

To find:

The values of x and y

Solution:

Firstly, let's multiply Equation 1 with 2.

2(3x + 4y) = 2(12)

➥ 6x + 8y = 24    -------- [Equation 3]

Subtracting Equation 1 from Equation 3,

                        6x + 8y = 24

               {+}     6x + 8y = 20

                                0 ≠ 4

So, the following equations will form parallel lines and so they do not have any solution,

∴ There is no value of x and y which can satisfy the given equations.
