3x-4y=20-------(1)

X+2y=5. ---------(2)

multiplying equation 1 by (1) and equation 2 by (3) we get

3x-4y=20

3x+6y=15

(-). (-). (-)

--------------------

-10y=5

y=5/-10

y=-1/2

put value of y=-1/2 in equation 1 we get

3x-4(-1/2)=20

3x+2=20

X=20-2/3

X=18/3

X=6
