Hi there !

There are many methods to find the values of x and y.Like,

  • Substitution method
  • Cross-multiplication Method
  • Elimination Method

Look at the attachment ↑↑

Verification :-

4(-1)+2= -4+2

= -2

= R.H.S

Thankyou :)

Answer:

x = - 1

y = 2

Step-by-step-explanation:

The given linear equations are

3x + 4y = 5 - - - ( 1 ) &

4x + y = - 2

⇒ y = - 2 - 4x

y = - 4x - 2 - - - ( 2 )

By substituting this value of y in equation ( 1 ),

3x + 4y = 5 - - - ( 1 )

⇒ 3x + 4 ( - 4x - 2 ) = 5 - - - [ From ( 2 ) ]

⇒ 3x - 16x - 8 = 5

⇒ - 13x = 5 + 8

⇒ - 13x = 13

⇒ x = - 13 / 13

x = - 1

Now, by using x = - 1 in equation ( 2 ) ,

y = - 4x - 2 - - - ( 2 )

⇒ y = - 4 * ( - 1 ) - 2

⇒ y = 4 - 2

y = 2

The solution of the given equations is

( x, y ) = ( - 1, 2 ).
