Step-by-step explanation:

x-2y = 5

=> x = 5 + 2y ...(1)

now,

3x + 4y = 7

Substituting value from (1)

3(5 + 2y) + 4y = 7

=> 15 + 6y + 4y = 7

=> 10y = 7 - 15

=> y = \frac{-8}{15}

now,

x = 5 + \frac{-16}{15}

=> x = \frac{75-16}{15} => \frac{59}{15}
