3x= 5 -7y

x=( 5 -7y)/3---------------1

Now putting value of y in 2y = x- 6 we get,

2y = (5 - 7y)/3 - 6

2y = (5- 7y - 18)/3

6y= 5-7y-18

13y = -13

y = -1

put y in 1

x=5-7(-1)/3

x = 4

multiply eq. (2) by 3

:.3x-6y=18.................(3)

now

substracting eq. (1) from (3)

3x-6y=18
