3x-5y= -1 and x-y=14 solve by substitution method​

Solution:

3x-5y= -1................. (1)

x-y= 14................(2)

x=14+y

Now, Substituting the value of x in (1) we get,

3(14+y) -5y=-1........... (1)

42+3y-5y=-1

42-2y=-1

2y=42+1

2y=43

y=43/2

Substituting the value of y in (2) we get,

x-y=14.......... (2)

x-43/2=14

x=14+43/2

x=28+43/2

x=71/2

So,

(71/2, 43/2) is the solution of a linear equation in two variables.
