3x + 5y = 16 ....(i)
4x - y   =  6 ...(ii)

Multiply (ii) with '5'
3x + 5y = 16
20x - 5y = 30
Adding both: 23x = 46
x = 46/23 = 2
Substitute this 'x' value in any equation.
'x' in (ii)== 4*2 - y = 6
8 - y = 6
y = 2
Hence x = y =2
