Given,

 \rm3x - 5y = 3 \: \: \: \: \: \cdots(1)\\ \rm8x + y = 8 \: \: \: \: \: \cdots(2)\\

From Equation (2), we have,

 \rm{y = 8 - 8x} \: \: \: \: \: \: \cdots(3)

Putting equation 3 in equation 1, we get,

 \rm3x - 5(8 - 8x) = 3 \\ \rm 3x - 40 + 40x = 3 \\ \rm(3 + 40)x = 3 + 40 \\ \rm43x = 43 \\ \\ \rm{}x = \frac{43}{43} \: \: = 1

Putting the obtained value of x in equation 3, we get,

 \rm{}y = 8 - 8(1) \\ \rm{}y = 8 - 8 = 0

Thus,

  • x = 1 & y = 0
