Answer:-

Given:

3x + 5y = 7 -- equation (1)

x - 3y = - 7 -- equation (2).

Multiply equation (2) by 3 and subtract equation (1) from (2)..

→ 3(x - 3y) - (3x + 5y) = 3(- 7) - 7

→ 3x - 9y - 3x - 5y = - 21 - 7

→ - 14y = - 28

→ y = - 28/- 14

→ y = 2.

Putting the value of y in equation (1) we get,

→ 3x + 5y = 7

→ 3x + 5(2) = 7

→ 3x = 7 - 10

→ 3x = - 3

→ x = - 3/3

→ x = - 1

Hence, the Values of x and y are - 1 ; 2.
