Solution :

Given two expressions are ,

First expression = -3x - 5y ,

second expression = 7x + 2y

i ) Subtracting second expression

from first expression , we get

-3x - 5y - ( 7x + 2y )

= -3x - 5y - 7x - 2y

= -3x - 7x - 5y - 2y

= ( -3 - 7 )x + ( -5 - 2 )y

= -10x - 7y

ii ) Subtracting first expression from

second expression , we get

7x + 2y - ( -3x - 5y )

= 7x + 2y + 3x + 5y

= 7x + 3x + 2y + 5y

= 10x + 7y
