3x-5y = 9 *5
5x - 3y = 7 *3

New equations

15x - 25y = 45 ……………(1)
15x - 9y = 21 …………….(2)

Subtract (1) from (2)

We get y = -1.5
substitute this value of y in any one of equations we get value of X

3x - 5(-1.5) = 9
3x = 16.5
x = 5.5
