Remove the brackets,

⇒ 3x + 8 = 4x - 6 + 8

Take 3x to RHS,

⇒ 8 = 4x - 6 + 8 - 3x

Add -6 and 8,

⇒ 8 = 4x + 2 - 3x

Take 2 to LHS,

⇒ 8 - 2 = 4x - 3x

Subtract 2 from 8,

⇒ 6 = 4x - 3x

Subtract 3x from 4x,

⇒ 6 = x

∴ Thus, the value of x is 6.
