Solve the given equation :-

 \sf Q) \: 3x + 8 = 5x + 2

Putting the constants and the variables on different sides by transposing,

 \sf\Rightarrow3x - 5x = 2 - 8

On simplifying,

 \sf \Rightarrow- 2x = - 6

Transposing -2 from LHS to RHS, changing it's sign,

 \sf \Rightarrow x =  \dfrac{ - 6}{ - 2}

Dividing -6 by -2,

 \sf \Rightarrow x = 3.

Therefore, the value of x = 3.

Verification :-

To check our answer, let's put 3 (The value of x) in the place of x and see whether LHS = RHS.

Let's proceed!

LHS

 \sf\Rightarrow3 \times 3 + 8

Applying the BODMAS rule and multiplying 3 by 3 first,

 \sf\Rightarrow9 + 8

On adding the numbers,

 \sf\Rightarrow17.

RHS

 \sf\Rightarrow5 \times 3 + 2

Applying the BODMAS rule and multiplying 5 by 3 first,

 \sf\Rightarrow15 + 2

On adding the numbers,

 \sf\Rightarrow17.

Since LHS = RHS,

Hence verified!
