EXPLANATION.

⇒ 3x - 8/x = 2.

As we know that,

Take L.C.M. in that questions, we get.

⇒ 3x² - 8 = 2x.

⇒ 3x² - 2x - 8 = 0.

Factorizes the equation into middle term splits, we get.

⇒ 3x² - 6x + 4x - 8 = 0.

⇒ 3x(x - 2) + 4(x - 2) = 0.

⇒ (3x + 4)(x - 2) = 0.

⇒ x = -4/3  and  x = 2.

MORE INFORMATION.

Conjugate roots.

If D < 0.

Other roots = α - iβ.

If D > 0.

One roots = α + √β.

Other roots = α - √β.

Question:-

  • Find the roots of 3x - 8/x - 2 = 0

To Find:-

  • Find the value of x.

Solution:-

\sf\longrightarrow \: 3x - \dfrac { \: 8 \: } { x } - 2 = 0

\sf\longrightarrow \: \dfrac { 3 { x }^{ 2 } - 8 - 2x } { x } = 0

\sf\longrightarrow \: 3 { x }^{ 2 } - 2x - 8 = 0 \times x

\sf\longrightarrow \: 3 { x }^{ 2 } - 6x + 4x - 8 = 0

\sf\longrightarrow \: 3x( x - 2 ) + 4( x - 2 ) = 0

\sf\longrightarrow \: ( x - 2 ) ( 3x + 4 ) = 0

\sf\longrightarrow \: x = 2 \: ; \: \dfrac { - 4 } { \: 3 }

Hence ,

  • The value of x is \sf \: x = 2 \: ; \: \dfrac { - 4 } { \: 3 }
