Questions should be:

  • Find the Value of x and y by substitution method.
  • 3x+y+1=0 and 2x-3y+8=0

ANSWER:

  • Value of x is (-1) and y is 2.

GIVEN:

  • 3x+y= -1
  • 2x-3y = -8

SOLUTION:

=> 3x+y = -1

=> y = -1-3x ....(i)

=> 2x-3y = -8

=> 2x -3(-1-3x) = -8

=> 2x+3+9x = -8

=> 11x = -11

=> x = -11/11

=> x = -1

Putting x = (-1) in eq(i)

=> y = -1-3(-1)

=> y = -1+3

=> y = 2

Value of x is (-1) and y is 2.

NOTE:

  • This method of finding the value of x and y is called substitution method.
